As a charity, Mates in Mind aims to provide clear information to employers about the available support and guidance on mental health and wellbeing, and how they can address this within their organisations.

Suicide is everyone's business. MATES is a charity established in 2008 to reduce the high level of suicide among Australian construction workers. MATES provides suicide prevention through community development programs on sites, and by supporting workers in need through case management and a 24/7 help line. We serve the construction industry in Queensland and Northern Territory, New South Wales, South Australia and Western Australia, the Energy industry in Queensland and New South Wales, and nationally to the Mining industry. MATES was established in response to a major report on suicide (the ‘AISRAP Report’) within the Queensland Commercial Building and Construction Industry. This report found that suicide rates in the industry were higher than the Australian average for men, and that youth suicide within the industry could be as much as 2.38 times more common than among other young Australian men. The MATES program is based on the simple idea that suicide is everyone’s business. If the building and construction industry in Australia is to improve the mental health and well-being of workers and reduce suicide, then it cannot be left to mental health professionals: everyone in the industry must play their part. Working for the construction industry in general, MATES is independent of employers and unions and never works directly for an employer. Programs are delivered across the industry regardless of employer or union affiliation.

Our mission is to provide and disseminate information and resources for suicide prevention and mental health promotion in construction with the goal of creating a zero suicide industry.

Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats is California's only 100% feral cat rescue and socialization facility. As shelter interventionists, we focus our attention on the most vulnerable of felines -- feral cats and kittens. Our one hundred weekly volunteers, who use force-free socialization techniques, take street cats from 'hiss to home'. Each year, through TNR and Working Cat programs, we place a thousand feral cats in safe locations, and intake hundreds of feral kittens. As a 501c3, we rely on community donations and support. Only through working together can we continue to offer life saving services to LA's abandoned cats and kittens. Change a cat's life, today through a donation. The St. Pete Free Clinic's mission is with compassion and respect, St. Pete Free Clinic changes lives by providing health care, nutritious food, recovery housing, and education for our neighbors in need. SPFC’s programs support health equity by providing nutritious food for those who need it, increasing access to healthcare, helping those recovering from substance use with stable housing and support, and educating our community. After vetting our partners to make sure they meet our grant-making criteria, the most important thing we do is LISTEN.  We never go into a community and tell them their school needs a library or their children need better food or cleaner water – we let them tell us what they need, and we listen as they explain what impact fulfilling that need will have.  We then brainstorm with them about the best way forward.  They know best the needs of their community and we want to help them achieve their dreams and goals.  That’s why the projects we support vary greatly – because the needs and priorities of children are different everywhere we GO. In addition to giving these children the opportunities they deserve, our mission is also to give our donors, people like you, the opportunity to connect and make a difference.  We give you the chance to donate to the project of your choice, to receive follow-up reports on progress, and even go and visit a project if you can.  You are part of the solution equation, and by cutting out the red tape and waste associated with many of the larger aid organizations, we present you with the opportunity to have lasting impact on children’s lives.
