"Since 2003, Step One Halfway House has been committed to walking alongside people who lost so much of who they were and the ability to achieve their life goals and dreams due to addiction and who desperately want and need help to recover. Step One’s mission is to introduce a 12-Step program to a newly sober individual in a clean, safe environment (the agency also helps those who are not yet sober. We serve the weakest among us; the helpless and homeless, the forgotten and those who fall through the cracks.

PWA Coalition of Dallas

ASD currently operates four Special Care Facilities licensed by the Texas Department of Health: The Ewing Center, Revlon Apartments, Hillcrest House, and Spencer Gardens. ASD serves an average of 175 men, women and children in 152 total bedrooms within 125 privately configured units. Seventy-six percent (76%) of the agency's resident population are racial or ethnic minorities, 24 percent were women. One hundred percent (100%) of the people served by ASD are significantly below the federal poverty line and are classified either as low- or very-low income. The agency has provided more than 326,000 person/nights of housing to more than 1,100 individuals and family members living with AIDS. Along with a home and a mutually supportive community environment, residents at each facility are provided with a range of services individually tailored to empower them to cope with the cyclical impact HIV/AIDS has on people who are living with a disease that often compromises their complete independence.

Community Housing Improvement Program Incorporated

CHIP is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation serving Butte, Glenn, Tehama, Plumas, Shasta, Sutter and Yuba counties. “Helping people help themselves” is CHIP’s mission. We assist low-income and rural disadvantaged residents, seniors and others who lack financial resources or knowledge to improve or provide adequately for their housing. Here’s what we do: construct mutual self-help (sweat equity) housing and affordable multi-family apartment housing manage rental properties we build and properties owned by others, provide education and services to residents, and build and enhance communities. Our organization has built more than 2000 housing units in our seven-county service area and is acknowledged as an innovator and leader in rural housing issues.

Hire Level Ministry

The advanced training program at Hire Level Ministry is focused on the individual attainment of sustainable wage employment. Upon successful completion of our program, participants have the opportunity to qualify for continued education scholarship funding. These scholarships are used to train for lifetime vocations. The program at hire level ministry includes wellness, computer skills, and leadership topics that are taught one night a week for 6 months. Additionally, the youth program runs simultaneously and covers the same topics. Any youth, kindergarten or older, living with an adult participant is welcome to join the youth program.
