About Us: Our Bridgeport club was founded in 1992, and is part of Soroptimist International of the Americas which was founded in 1921. Soroptimist is an international volunteer organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world. A 501(c)(3) organization, Soroptimist relies on charitable contributions to fund its programs. Local members join with almost 100,000 Soroptimists in more than120 countries and territories to contribute time and financial support to community-based projects benefiting women. Soroptimist International has consultative status with the United Nations’ Economic and Social Council, which oversees U.N. activities promoting human rights. In addition to sponsoring the awards programs, our club has participated in community programs focused on various health and human service issues for women and girls, such as the Center for Women and Families, Mi Casa/My Home, Women and Men’s Health Project, Project Courage, and Local Soup Kitchens. MissionOperation of Hope Worldwide (formally Operacion Esperanza since 1989) is a volunteer medical team that has changed the lives of over 5,000 children around the world...and counting. Each year, we traveling to developing countries to perform cleft lip and palate surgeries, as well as, other types of facial reconstructive surgery for people in need. In addition, this group of highly specialized medical personnel, train the nurses and doctors in these countries to provide care for their patients. Our work has expanded to neonatal care, prosthetic hands and burn surgeries in Africa, Asia, South Pacific and Latin America. Our goal is to provide additional experience for physicians who are specializing in these types of surgery.

Our mission is to bring real and lasting change to children living in poverty. In partnership with contributors, we reduce their daily struggles, invest in their potential, and provide them with the opportunity to grow up healthy, educated and prepared to succeed and contribute to society.

We are dedicated to assisting disadvantaged children, their families and communities break free from the cycle of poverty by providing orphaned and vulnerable children and their families with access to health care, education, vocational training, and the basic necessities of life such as nutrition and shelter. Kids hope ethiopia believes in local solutions to local struggles. This leads us to partner with local individuals and local organizations overseas to create opportunity for individuals, families and communities. Adopting a community based development approach, we provide tools to community members enabling them to get themselves out of poverty. Kids hope ethiopia has developed a model for our education support centers that addresses every area of need for each child, providing all the tools, support and opportunities for them to reach their full potential.

OneSky partners with governments and communities in Asia to provide responsive care and safe learning environments so that marginalized young children can thrive. We began our work in China in 1998 as Half the Sky. Our goal, from the start, was to bring love and responsive care to infants living in child welfare institutions across the country. With a team of early childhood development experts, we set about training caregivers to ensure the youngest and most vulnerable received the best possible start to life. In 2011, the Chinese government invited OneSky to train every child welfare worker in the country. This groundbreaking partnership has transformed the standard of care and directly reached over 200,000 children in China’s 31 provinces. Recognizing that the needs of young children are universal, today, we train professional child caregivers and parents across Asia with internationally recognized training methods and curricula, while partnering with governments to help them transform systems of care. Since 1998 across China, Vietnam and Mongolia and Hong Kong SAR, OneSky has trained 116,502 caregivers and impacted 394,390 children, with a goal to reach countless more in future years.
