Each year, hundreds of thousands of women are diagnosed with breast cancer, affecting one in eight women in their lifetime. The mission of Breast Cancer Alliance (BCA) is to improve survival rates and quality of life for those impacted by breast cancer through better prevention, early detection, treatment, and cure. To promote these goals, we invest in innovative research, breast surgery fellowships, education, dignified regional screening, and support for the underserved. Since its inception in 2006, BCA has invested over $39 million in grants to improve the survival rates of those diagnosed with breast cancer. The National Pediatric Cancer Foundation (NPCF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding and developing novel research and clinical trials to find less toxic, more effective treatments for childhood cancer. Our purpose is to reduce the side effects of current treatments, improve survival rates, and ultimately eliminate childhood cancer. NPCF is a nonprofit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. At the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation, we are aggressively pursuing measurable change in how pediatric cancer research is approached and funded through our collaborative research consortium, the Sunshine Project. The Sunshine Project’s one-of-a-kind research model focuses on translational studies and phase 0, 1, and 2 clinical trials that address a multitude of different pediatric cancers. Our innovative approach capitalizes on the strengths of researchers from various scientific fields throughout the country, streamlining the protocol development process to deliver more personalized medicine to children with cancer. This utilization of scientific and philanthropic partnerships allows us to fast-track potential new therapies with less toxicity into clinical trials. The treatment options currently being discovered bring great promise for children who have not experienced positive results under the standard treatment protocol.

Supporting patients and families while promoting research, education and awareness.

At POGO, we give kids with cancer the support they need–not just during the difficult time around therapy, but for years after when they can face complications from the treatments that saved them. Each year in Ontario, 400 children are diagnosed with cancer and 4,000 families are currently going through active treatment or follow up care. Many of these families are accessing POGO’s financial assistance program for the unexpected costs associated with a childhood cancer diagnosis. While 82% of children survive, many survivors of brain tumours and other cancers may face learning challenges later in life. POGO counsellors work with these young people to help them match their dreams with their abilities and move on to college or university. POGO also maintains an aggressive research agenda. We are asking the types of questions that will benefit these young cancer patients, their families and survivors—in Ontario and around the world—today and well into the future.

HealthRIGHT 360 gives hope, builds health, and changes lives for people in need. We do this by providing compassionate, integrated care that includes primary medical, mental health, substance use disorder treatment and re-entry services.

METAvivor is dedicated to the specific fight of women and men living with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. At the time of METAvivor’s founding, no organization was dedicated to funding research for the disease and no patient groups were speaking out about the dearth of stage 4 cancer research. While more and more people have taken up the cry for more stage 4 research, METAvivor remains the sole US organization dedicated to awarding annual stage 4 breast cancer research.

A network of friends, inspired by gospel values, growing in holiness and building a more just world through personal relationships with and service to people in need. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul USA harnesses the power of community and partnerships to feed, clothe, house and heal individuals and families in our community who have nowhere else to turn for help. Our volunteer members – known as Vincentians – are women and men who are compelled by our Catholic Christian faith to serve those who are needy and suffering. From rental assistance and homelessness prevention, to thrift stores and food pantries, to disaster recovery and charitable pharmacies, we share our time and treasure with those who need help and hope. We believe EVERYONE deserves a fair chance at a bright future, regardless of income or life circumstances.
