AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. AVID can transform schools and districts so that students, particularly those students who are first generation college-goers, will be successful in college and a career. AVID believes that the most effective way to help schools is to improve the quality of their teachers’ instruction and school leadership. This builds sustainability, accountability, hope, and positive morale directly into the fabric of a school and ultimately an entire school district. And a marked improvement in a community’s schools creates ripples of benefit for the community.
