NAMLE’s mission is to be the leading voice, convener and resource to foster critical thinking and effective communication for empowered media participation. We define both education and media broadly. Education includes both formal and informal settings, classrooms and living rooms, in school and after school, anywhere that lifelong learners can be reached. Media includes digital media, computers, video games, radio, television, mobile media, print, and communication technologies that we haven’t even dreamed of yet.

Founded in 1993 to bridge the gap between policy and practice, The Center for Education Reform is the pioneer and leading voice for substantive change that transforms learning opportunities and outcomes for America’s children. The mission of the Center is to accelerate the growth of the education reform movement in ways that make available to families new and meaningful choices, give parents fundamental power over their children’s education, and allow teachers and schools to innovate in ways that transform student learning.

The Independent Media Institute (IMI) is a nonprofit organization that educates the public through a diverse array of independent media projects and programs. We work with journalists and media outlets to shine a spotlight on stories that are vital to the public interest, using multiple media formats and distribution channels.

Project Twenty1 has an EPIC mission. We Educate, Promote, Inspire, and Connect creatives through film and animation programs in the Greater Philadelphia area that attract participants from all over the world. We help turn artistic passions into careers. We help unite the world of independent artists, allow them direct paths to their audiences, and at the same time build the cultural and artistic scene in Philadelphia and beyond. We create a network of support, promotion, and distribution through which motivated filmmakers and artists can get their work seen internationally. And in the process, we witness the birth of exciting new creative relationships and truly original, entertaining films.

Carolina Public Press is WNC's only 501c3 nonprofit online news service providing unbiased, in-depth & investigative reporting and educational opportunities to journalists, students and others. Launched 2011, we provide public interest news to build an informed, engaged electorate and ensure government accountability

A team of volunteers, trained specialists, and professionals each with essential expertise (history, aviation, diving, navigation), who are dedicated to locating and assisting with identifying American prisoners of war and missing in action from World War Two and other conflicts around the globe. This effort is done through detailed research and exploration while consistently coordinating with appropriate national authorities.  

To manifest film and media projects that explore our shared humanity and foster an appreciation of the natural world. Our media education program works with filmmakers from under-served communities and balances intensive film production with important skills training while enabling young filmmakers to share their stories and ideas with the world.

Our mission is to enhance doctor/patient communication, specifically in end-of-life conversations; strengthen patient-centered healthcare; and to reduce health and healthcare disparities with a focus on chronically and terminally ill homeless individuals. In 2015, HCRI, Inc. began a new journey – to create a hospice house for the terminally ill homeless in Sacramento, CA – Joshua’s House – in memory of a young man, Joshua Lee (1980-2014), who had a vision of preventing those homeless men and women who were seriously and terminally ill from dying alone, scared and in pain on the streets or along the rivers of our community. We are using a community-based approach with an Advisory Board comprised of representatives from local hospitals; hospice programs; California State University, Sacramento; University of California, Davis, School of Medicine and School of Nursing; organizations that focus on housing for the homeless; medical clinics; as well as the homeless community.

They serve the intersectional communities that have been historically oppressed. The marginalized, the outcasts, and the disenfranchised are our people. They inspire, equip and amplify these change agents. They dismantle oppression from the ground up and from the inside out.

THE MISSION OF THE BIG SKY FILM INSTITUTE IS TO CELEBRATE AND PROMOTE THE ART OF NON-FICTION FILMMAKING, AND TO ENCOURAGE MEDIA LITERACY BY FOSTERING PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING AND APPRECIATION OF DOCUMENTARY FILM.
