Our mission is to build a humane community supporting the human-animal bond by being a resource through rescue, adoption, intervention, education, and outreach. We envision a community where all animals are loved, respected, and treated humanely. Pets Alive values and embraces above all, kindness, compassion, integrity, respect, inclusiveness, and collaboration in all aspects of our mission and our vision for a humane community
We rescue and rehome dogs (primarily) from local hi-kill shelters. We focus on but are not limited to special needs animals (deaf, blind, otherwise disabled and seniors). We provide foster homes to start and provide whatever it takes (rehab, medical, training etc) to make sure the animal never ever goes back into the shelter system. We are available to our adopters for the life of the animal, should they need assistance.
Provide sanctuary and life-time care to animals in need and to educate the public on wildlife, the life sciences and the environment we share.

At Operation Overwatch we aim to heal at both ends of the leash; simply put, canines assisting veterans. Our outreach program serves veterans and first responders by providing them with professionally trained service dogs and animal assisted therapy. Operation Overwatch is a 501(c)(3) that rescues dogs from shelters across the country and trains them to be of service to warriors suffering from post traumatic stress disorder and/or traumatic brain injury, as well as those needing mobility assistance.
Operation Freedom Paws empowers veterans and others with disabilities to live a quality life by teaching them to train their own dogs, and certifying them as service dog teams. The dogs, usually from rescue organizations or shelters, are carefully evaluated. Each is then matched to a specific client’s physical and psychological needs. There is no charge – all we ask is a commitment to complete the 48-week training program.
