The mission of Garden State German Shepherd rescue is to rescue German Shepherd Dogs from shelters and pounds throughout New Jersey. All dogs are temperament tested before coming into rescue. If they pass our tests, they are brought up to date on shots, and spayed or neutered before the are placed in foster homes. Potential adopters are carefully screened to ensure that the dogs are placed in good permanent homes. Through our full service owner referral program, we assist owners who need to place their dogs in new homes. Referral dogs are temperament tested and the potential adopters are carefully screened. GSGSR also provides care and training information about the breed to owners and prospective owners.

They then expanded by taking a supportive role in equine rescue efforts throughout the Northeast U.S. In 2001, the incidents of horse abuse, neglect, abandonment and horse slaughter rose. ERR grew again due to the ever increasing need for competent and caring shelters that could facilitate large animal rescues, specifically equine rescues. ERR is comprised entirely of volunteers that assist in the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of equines (lite horses, draft horses, ponies, donkeys, mules) throughout New York State and any surrounding area that the volunteers can reasonably reach for site inspections and follow up visits. They believe education is key, and ERR puts forth efforts to promote equine adoption and responsible ownershineglect and abandonment.

Assisting in the enforcement of cruelty laws. Their plan was to create a shelter for equines... a rescue that would provide care, rehabilitation and adoption services for abused, neglected, abandoned and unwanted horses. Pretty simple, they thought -- help a few horses out, they thought. They were not prepared for the floodgates that opened. They have taken in horses with physical scars so vicious that they can only guess what happened; others with emotional scars that won't allow them to trust again. But they have also helped many, many horses and ponies find homes with people who love them and have given them another chance at being useful riding horses or companions. They make sure that all animals are fully recovered before they are available for adoption.
