The mission of the Wayne County Humane Society Animal Shelter is to provide a humane facility to shelter, feed and care for lost, unwanted and abused animals of Wayne County, New York and to provide a facility for humane education to citizens of Wayne County.The animal shelter works with your support to: Receive animals from the public and animal control officers in Wayne County townships and villages Provide community education in humane animal care Assist the public in finding a suitable companion through timely animal adoptions Strive towards control of the pet population through spay/neuter programs

The mission of the Nonhuman Rights Project is, through education and litigation, to change the common law status of at least some nonhuman animals from mere “things,” which lack the capacity to possess any legal right, to “persons,” who possess such fundamental rights as bodily integrity and bodily liberty, and those other legal rights to which evolving standards of morality, scientific discovery, and human experience entitle them.

The mission of Animal Friends of Barbour County, Inc. is to educate the public with regard to the care and humane treatment of animals, emphasize the importance of the spay/neuter programs to prevent overpopulation and to assist our county with stray, abandoned, and lost animals until a home can be found.

They are a very small family run 501(c) 3 non-profit rescue group. They are made up of only three people plus foster home volunteers. Their mission is to rescue cats and kittens in need, get them healthy, and adopt them into caring and life-long homes.
