Orca Network’s 2025 Welcome the Whales Festival brought record community participation and raised vital awareness for gray whale conservation. Through events like our first-ever trivia night fundraiser, educational talks with leading scientists, and a joyful parade led by youth and volunteers, we inspired hundreds to learn about and protect the Sounders. This celebration strengthened community engagement and demonstrated the power of local action in marine stewardship.

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

Orca Network’s mission aligns closely with the Global Goals of Quality Education, Climate Action, Life Below Water, Life on Land, and Partnerships for the Goals. Through education, citizen science, and advocacy, we provide meaningful learning experiences for people of all ages that deepen understanding of marine ecosystems and inspire environmental stewardship. Our programs work to protect the Salish Sea and its endangered species, especially the Southern Resident orcas, by addressing threats such as declining salmon populations, pollution, and habitat loss. We foster partnerships with scientists, schools, community organizations, and Indigenous leaders to amplify conservation efforts, advance equitable access to environmental education, and create lasting positive change for the ecosystems we depend on.
