Our Mission

Oncology And Kids (OAK) runs free, year-round quality-of-life and peer-support programs for children affected by cancer — including patients, siblings, and families. Their services center on medically supervised camps (Camp Reach for the Sky), teen retreats, grief support, and wraparound activities designed to help children cope emotionally, build resilience, and restore a sense of normalcy.

How Your Donations Help

  • $10,000 supports 1 entire camp session. Your support covers lodging, meals, activities, and medical support for all campers, creating a lasting impact on their lives.
  • $5,000 supports 3 chartered buses to take kids to and from Camp Reach for the Sky free of charge so that transportation and socioeconomic status are not barriers to care.
  • $1,000 supports 1 comprehensive Family Support Package. This includes counseling services, educational resources, and assistance with transportation, easing the burden on families.
  • $500 supports 1 Teen Weekend scholarship for one camper, ensuring that they can attend our life-changing camp programs, regardless of their financial situation.
  • $100 supports 1 full day of fun and therapeutic activities at one of our camps. From arts and crafts to outdoor adventures, this supports a memorable and healing camp experience.
  • $25 supports 1 virtual support session for a child or a sibling of a cancer patient. These sessions offer emotional support and guidance, helping them navigate the challenges they face.

At Camp Reach for the Sky, childhood cancer patients and siblings can simply be kids, not kids with cancer.

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

Good Health and Well-Being: At OAK, we are deeply committed to promoting good health and well-being among children facing the challenges of cancer. Our programs provide a holistic approach to healing emotional scars caused by childhood cancer. By offering therapeutic and recreational activities, we contribute to improved mental and emotional well-being, fostering resilience in our young participants. Gender Equality: OAK recognizes the importance of gender equality and inclusivity. We strive to ensure that all children, regardless of gender, have equal access to our programs and opportunities. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion extends to our volunteer leadership and staff, promoting gender equality in leadership roles. Reduced Inequalities: OAK is dedicated to reducing inequalities by addressing the unique needs of children facing cancer. We provide support to vulnerable populations, including low-income families and underserved communities. Our programs tackle the disease's impact equitably, focusing on patients, siblings, and families, ensuring that no child is left behind. Life on Land: While not directly related to biodiversity or ecosystems, our work indirectly contributes to Goal 15 by providing children with the opportunity to connect with nature during our camp programs. These experiences help children develop an appreciation for the environment, fostering a sense of responsibility for preserving life on land. Partnerships for the Goal: Collaboration is at the heart of our mission. OAK actively seeks partnerships with hospitals, organizations, and volunteers to maximize our impact. Through these collaborations, we can leverage resources, share knowledge, and collectively work towards achieving our goal of helping kids and families heal from the emotional scars of childhood cancer.
