The MISSION of the Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative is to develop scientific, economic and ecologically sustainable models and practices that would:
* Restore and improve the Hawaiian forest to what it once was. * Allow landowners to profitably establish and maintain permanent forest on these lands. * Protect and promote our native flora and fauna. * Maximize the ability to sequester carbon from our atmosphere. * Educate and entrain all who live and visit our islands the importance of caring for all our forest in all their forms. * Recharge our watersheds with more water. * Allow individuals and businesses an opportunity to become stakeholders of our environment through the planting of trees.
