One Year After the LA Fires: Honoring Recovery, Resilience, and the Work Still Ahead

Today marks one year since the devastating Palisades and Eaton fires ravaged Los Angeles — permanently impacting neighborhoods, displacing families, and reshaping communities across the region.

For many, this anniversary is a moment of reflection. For us at Pledge, it’s deeply personal.

We are an LA-based company. We live here. We work here. We volunteer here. And we stand with the communities and nonprofits who have been on the ground since day one — continuing the long, complex road to recovery. ❤️‍🩹

When the Headlines Fade, Recovery Continues

In the immediate aftermath of the fires, the response was overwhelming. Donations poured in. Volunteers showed up. Communities rallied together. It was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when people unite around a shared purpose.

But disasters don’t end when the news cycle moves on.

One year later, families are still rebuilding homes and livelihoods. Community organizations continue to provide housing assistance, mental-health support, youth programming, and emergency resources. Long-term recovery requires sustained funding, consistent attention, and collective care.

Recovery isn’t a moment — it’s a process.

Community-Led Recovery Makes the Difference

What continues to inspire us is the resilience of Los Angeles — and the organizations rooted in these communities who remain committed to rebuilding.

We’re proud to support nonprofits leading recovery efforts across the city, including:

These organizations understand that recovery requires more than immediate relief — it requires trust, time, and sustained investment.

How Pledge Helps Power Long-Term Impact

Sustained recovery depends on making generosity easy, accessible, and trusted — and that’s exactly what Pledge is built to do.

Through Pledge, supporters can give in 10+ ways, including credit cards, bank transfers, stock, crypto, and donor-advised funds (DAFs). When donors have options, they’re more likely to give — and give again.

Pledge also offers Free the Fee, allowing donors to optionally cover processing costs so nonprofits can receive more of every dollar raised. That means more funding stays where it belongs — with the organizations doing the work.

Just as importantly, Pledge is a trusted platform, used by leading nonprofits, brands, and media partners to power campaigns, events, and long-term initiatives. Transparency, security, and compliance are built in — so donors can give with confidence, and nonprofits can focus on impact.

Why Showing Up One Year Later Still Matters

Anniversaries like this remind us that rebuilding takes time. Fires may last days, but recovery takes years.

Showing up now means:

  • Helping families regain long-term stability
  • Keeping community programs funded
  • Supporting mental-health and youth services
  • Investing in preparedness and resilience for the future

When support continues beyond the initial crisis, communities heal stronger.

A Stronger, More Resilient LA — Together

As we reflect on the past year, we also look forward. Progress has been made — but the work isn’t finished. And we believe deeply in what’s possible when communities continue to show up for one another.

Today, we invite you to stand with LA once more.

Because recovery doesn’t end when the headlines fade.
Because generosity sustained over time creates real change.
Because together, we rebuild stronger.
