Kevin Richardson Foundation NPC

The Kevin Richardson Foundations aims to preserve habitat and garner protection and awareness for Africa's most iconic specie, the lion. The lion is under threat and scientists predict that by 2050, there will be no lions remaining in the wild. This blindspot in conservation is a challenge because of the total systemic complexity in which the lion exists. Our foundation seeks to address this issue from all angles through: 1. Buying up large tracts of land to preserve in perpetuity for lions and thus other wildlife species 2. Educate and empower rural communities living on the fringes of wildlife habitats so as to show meaningful benefit to conserving the wildlife surrounding them. Through providing opportunities for nature sensitization (especially for students) and respond to the immediate needs of these communities, we hope to help break the destructive habits of poaching and the bush meat trade. 3. Collaborate with a wide range of like minded individuals - we welcome scientists, artists, students, house moms, influencers, anyone with a passion for conserving the lion and other species, to come together to creatively pool our talent and resources to find innovative ways to address issues such as captive lion breeding, canned hunting and cub petting and help bring an end to these barbaric practices. historically we have worked with closely with scientists, especially those of the University of Pretoria's Wildlife Management Programme in their Carnivore studies to help provide more data on protecting big cats and improving their care when in captive situations or undergoing translocation. 4. Protect and maintain the Kevin Richardson wildlife sanctuary which is home to 40 predators rescued from the captive breeding and canned hunting industry. These animals deserve a safe and enriched lifelong home.

Unjani Clinics NPC

Unjani Clinics is an Enterprise Development initiative aimed at: Empowering black woman Professional Nurses Creating meaningful, permanent jobs and Perfecting a sustainable model for delivering primary care We aim to implement 600+ Unjani Clinic Care settings in South Africa by the end of 2030, thereby empowering in excess of 600 professional nurses, creating in excess of 2 500 new meaningful jobs and improving access to affordable healthcare to in excess of 6 million people annually. As the only nurse-led initiative and network in South Africa, this is a unique model that offers convenience, quality and affordable primary healthcare in the communities that we serve. Patients do not have the long waiting queues experienced in Government facilities, they have the convenience of walking to their local Unjani Clinic as opposed to having to take transport and they are guaranteed the medicines required to treat their diagnosis. Access to affordable primary healthcare is thus enhanced through the Unjani Clinic Network. The value proposition for our patient is convenient, accessible, affordable, quality primary healthcare services. Unlike many other international clinic models, the Unjani Clinics Network is not a private, public, partnership (PPP), it is entirely private, and the clinics receive no Government assistance (product, price or otherwise). We serve Government patients by offering them an affordable, alternative healthcare solution. With 182 Unjani ClinicCare Settings currently operational nationally in South Africa, we believe we have a proven formula for success and need to transition to scale in order to maximise our impact and achieve greater reach of the target populations; and populations in other African countries. Unjani Clinic is a network of black women owned and operated primary healthcare clinics that provide accessible, affordable and quality healthcare to communities in low income areas of South Africa. It complements the re-engineering of our healthcare system by creating community based healthcare structures at the point of need. It is an innovative model to address the inequality which exists between private and public healthcare services in our country. Whilst private and public hospitals and clinics exist there are too few to deal with the increasing healthcare burden and private healthcare is too expensive for the bulk of the population. The innovation behind Unjani Clinic is based on shifting primary healthcare tasks to Professional Nurses and the ability to leverage a highly developed and extensive private sector distribution network to ensure more people have access to quality primary healthcare and medicines. Many of the existing Nurse-led models are reliant on health department support or assistance through PPP's (Public Private Partnerships) i.e. Government has the demand and works with the private sector to deliver the requirements; Unjani Clinics are solely private, offering Government patients a choice to use an affordable, alternative model of quality care!

Wildlife ACT

Wildlife ACT is a conservation organisation based in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, that focuses on on-the-ground endangered species conservation efforts, the daily monitoring of priority species within protected areas, and the management of human-wildlife conflict, and the promotion of community involvement in conservation. Of particular focus for the organisation is the critically endangered African Wild Dog and Black Rhino, as well as the six Vulture species found in South Africa - of which, several are critically endangered. Through the help of their voluntourism model, Wildlife ACT has been able to provide sustained, free professional monitoring services to more than ten Zululand protected areas for 15 years, as well as contributing endangered species management across Africa, and the restoration of North Island, Seychelles. Wildlife ACT's mission is to save our planet's endangered wildlife and wildlands from extinction. Our aim is to develop and implement innovative, ground based and sustainable conservation models that save our wildlife, protect our wilderness, and benefit our local communities. Our quest is to create inspiring connections with the wilderness, giving people pragmatic ways to support and be part of effective on-the-ground conservation work. Our promise: Real, honest conservation where it's needed most. Through strategic partnerships, sustainable funding models and developing technology: - Implement strategic monitoring and research to inform and enable effective conservation management of wildlife. - Understand the needs of surrounding communities, and develop innovative programs to facilitate socio-economic advancement. - Use Africa-centric, people oriented models to drive wild area expansion. Another essential aspect of Wildlife ACT's mandate lies at the interface of managing human-wildlife conflict and encouraging community conservation efforts. Many people living adjacent to South Africa's protected areas and national parks have only a view across the fence. Wildlife ACT understands that in order for conservation efforts to be sustainable and meaningful, these gaps need to be filled. Their Community Conservation Programme aims to encourage participation in, and strengthen peoples' understanding of, the conservation sector, showcasing the value of nature and highlighting economic opportunities in the sector.
