Japan International Support Program

On the 11th of March 2011, Japan was hit by one of the most powerful earthquakes ever known to have hit the country. Following the earthquakes, large tsunamis devastated Japan's north-eastern coast, damaging or destroying nearly 40,000 buildings, leaving 20,000 dead. IsraAID's first team arrived on the ground 4 days after the tsunami, and distributed aid, cleaned houses, created child-friendly spaces, and rebuilt schools. During this period, IsraAID discovered a rapidly growing need for psycho-social and post-traumatic care, and has decided to launch the "Japan IsraAID Support Program (JISP)" in August 2013. Drawing on local and foreign knowledge, IsraAID and JISP have provided direct support to the victims and trained thousands of professionals and care providers in MHPSS, offering PTSD prevention, stress-management and leadership workshops. Founded in the aftermath of the great disaster in Tohoku, JISP now operates as one of the leading humanitarian organizations based in Japan's Tohoku Region where very few international NGOs activate.

Ear Care Nepal

Our mission is to prevent hearing loss and promote lifelong ear health across Nepal by delivering accessible, affordable, and high-quality ear care to underprivileged children, particularly those living in remote and hard-to-reach regions where services are virtually nonexistent. Globally, more than 430 million people live with disabling hearing loss, but the burden in Nepal is disproportionately high. An estimated 15.4% of the Nepali population experiences hearing impairment one of the highest rates in Asia. What makes this crisis especially urgent is that the majority of hearing loss in Nepal is preventable. Conditions such as chronic ear infections, and harmful traditional practices continue to cause irreversible damage simply due to lack of awareness, early detection, and access to care. In children, untreated ear disease leads not only to hearing loss, but to delayed speech and language development, poor academic performance, social exclusion, and lifelong limitations on opportunity. Ear Care Nepal (ECN) was founded in 2013 in response to this urgent and avoidable public health crisis. Established by a dedicated group of ENT surgeons and philanthropists, ECN was created with a clear purpose: to stop preventable deafness before it limits a child's ability to learn, communicate, and thrive. Our work is guided by the belief that hearing is fundamental to education, dignity, and social inclusion, and that no child should be held back by a condition that can be prevented or treated. Our mission is implemented through a comprehensive, evidence-based, and child-centered approach. At its core, it is Nepal's first and only purely school-based ear health program, focused on early detection, treatment, and prevention. By bringing services directly into community schools, we reach children at the most critical stage of development before hearing problems become permanent barriers. Through school screening programs, we identify ear diseases early, provide conservative medical treatment on site whenever possible, and ensure timely referrals for surgery or hearing aids when needed. Beyond service delivery, our mission emphasizes capacity building and sustainability. Nepal faces a severe shortage of trained ear and hearing care professionals, particularly in rural areas. To address this gap, ECN trains and develops its own workforce, including Community Ear Assistants, building on the proven model of Nepal's Female Community Health Volunteers. These trusted community members are equipped with specialized skills to continue ear screening, education, and follow-up care long after individual projects conclude. This approach ensures long-term impact, local ownership, and resilience of our programs. Education and awareness are central to our mission. ECN develops culturally appropriate and child-friendly educational materials in Nepali, including booklets, animated videos, and a song. These tools help children, teachers, and parents understand that ear disease and hearing loss are not inevitable and that early care can prevent serious complications, including life-threatening infections. Ultimately, our mission aligns with our vision: to create a Nepal where no child is held back by preventable hearing loss. By combining medical expertise, community-based solutions, strong partnerships, and measurable impact, Ear Care Nepal transforms preventable suffering into opportunity and ensures that sound, education, and hope reach even the most remote corners of the country.

Stichting Heifer Nederland

Heifer is on a mission to end hunger and poverty in a sustainable way by investing in agriculture and supporting small-scale farmers to earn a sustainable living income and better integrate rural women, youth and indigenous populations into more inclusive value chains. To achieve our goals, we operate in the mentioned 19 countries across four continents through locally staffed and led offices. HNL is part of the global Heifer International network and operates as Heifer's gateway to Europe. HNL focusses on building partnerships and raising funds from European donors to support local initiatives, such as this proposed project in Bangladesh. While the local Heifer team in Bangladesh manages project design and implementation, HNL is responsible for mobilizing and securing funding partners and managing donor relationships after a grant has been approved. As such, HNL also oversees coordination with donors' grant preferences. Grants and donations that HNL receives for specific projects such as this one, are transferred one-on-one to the relevant Heifer office in the country of project implementation, in this case Bangladesh. Empowering women is one of the cornerstones in Heifer's approach. Since 1999 HNL has raised funds that supported 109266 female farmers. In FY 2024, HNL has supported 15568 female farmers. Heifer started working in Bangladesh in 2006, and to date have supported more than 139000 families across 6 districts in the northern part of the country.
