MSF is the world’s leading independent humanitarian medical relief organization, providing crucial medical care to people affected by war, civil strife, epidemics, natural disasters and social marginalization. MSF strives to respond rapidly and effectively to public health emergencies with complete independence from political, economic or religious powers. In 1999, MSF was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for its pioneering humanitarian work: rapid interventions, calling public attention to humanitarian catastrophies, respecting fellow humans’ dignity and acting as a source of hope for peace and reconciliation.

DR. BOB KEMP HOSPICE

The Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice provides dignity, compassion, comfort and support to citizens of Greater Hamilton, Ontario who are facing a life-ending disease or condition, and their families. Support is available from the time of diagnosis through bereavement. Our interdisciplinary team of specially trained volunteers and professionals provide social, physical, emotional and spiritual support. Care is provided in home, in hospital, or in long term care. In June 2007, we will also be able to provide care in our residential beds, Hamilton's first residential hospice beds. Support is provided through a number of programs: Visiting support; Day Respite; Bereavement for adults and children; resources; and, advocacy.

Hospice Simcoe provides for the needs of people in Simcoe County who are dying, who have dying family members or who are bereaved. We provide high quality Hospice Palliative Care from the time of diagnosis with a life limiting illness through death and bereavement. Our programs include Visiting Hospice, Residential Hospice and Bereavement Support. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for people who are dying and their family members.

Look Good Feel Better At the heart of Look Good Feel Better is the free, two-hour hands-on workshop offered at 120 cancer care facilities and hospitals across the country. The workshop brings together women with cancer in a safe and supportive environment where they benefit from shared experiences and learn how to look and feel more like themselves again. Facing Cancer Together The Facing Cancer Together program offers a cancer support network and provides information, resources and tools to help women – and those who care about them – manage the social and emotional effects of cancer. Alzheimer Society Peel is a non-profit, charitable organization. We promote public and professional awareness of Alzheimer disease and related dementias and provide services and programs to individuals, families and the community. Alzheimer Society Peel offers counselling, support groups, day programs, wandering person registry (Safely HomeTM), resource centres, education and much more. Our programs and services are available throughout Peel Region through our offices in Brampton, Meadowvale and Port Credit. You do not need a diagnosis or a referral to access our services.

Coast Mental Health Foundation

Coast Mental Health knows that recovery from mental illness is more than taking pills. Through individualized support and client involvement in goal-setting and care, Coast has successfully helped thousands of people in their recovery. Last year Coast staff and peer support workers reached out to over 3000 clients. We provided supported housing to over 900 people, helped hundreds of people find work and volunteer opportunities, served over 1000 meals each day, and provide such basic human comforts as laundry and shower facilities, and social and recreational activities. All designed to facilitate recovery for those in need. Coast clients form a thriving community of people working each day to overcome illness, adversity and stigma. We have seen many individuals move from unemployment, homelessness, being hungry and alone, to finding jobs, homes, food and a community of people who care. Coast welcomes anyone with a mental illness to participate in our services and programs.

The Alzheimer Society of PEI offers specialized programs and services to support you. - Public Education: Presentations & Workshops - Counselling - First Link - is a program designed to assist individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, their family and caregivers.
