The Langley Hospice Society is committed to providing emotional, practical and spiritual support for people who are living with a terminal illness, their family and friends throughout the last stage of illness, at the time of death and bereavement.

The Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation raises sustainable funds and awareness for the priorities and needs of Markham Stouffville Hospital(MSH). MSH is a community hospital based in Markham that was built to serve a population of 110,000, but is now serving over 330,000 people annually. MSH proudly opened its expanded building in March 2013 immediately followed by phase two of its expansion campaign – extensive renovations to its original building. This renewal, scheduled for completion in August 2014, will complete MSH’s transformation into a unique, state-ofthe-art health and wellness campus.

Founded over 25 years ago, the Alzheimer Society is a not-for-profit health organization dedicated to helping people affected by Alzheimer Disease. The Society consists of a national office, 10 provincial organizations and more than 140 local groups across the country.

BB4CK works in partnership with Calgary schools to make and deliver free healthy lunches for students who would otherwise go hungry. Through the work of community groups and volunteers, we provide about 2,000 lunches each day. Lunches are prepared in our main kitchen, and in various other locations by community groups including retirees, parent groups and local businesses. Nourishment is available to any young person who arrives at school without enough to eat. BB4CK works with school staff members to identify needs and to plan how best to make sure hungry students get the nutrition required to think clearly and learn. By enabling better education outcomes, BB4CK gives students a hand up, not just a handout. Each lunch costs only about $1 to make. Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids has one goal: no hungry kids in Calgary. We strive toward this goal each day by providing healthy lunches directly to kids, and by empowering communities to create lasting social change.

Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, North America’s first free standing children’s hospice, is a recognized global leader in specialized pediatric palliative care. Canuck Place offers a comprehensive continuum of care to over 350 children and teens with life-threatening illnesses and their families throughout British Columbia. The program is unique in that it offers world-class health care within a home-like environment. With comfortable surroundings, personalized programs, caring professional staff and dedicated volunteers, it is a place for children and families to come in their time of need. Services include 24/7 physician and nursing support, end-of-life care, pain and symptom management, respite care, school, music and play therapy, recreation opportunities and counseling. The Kelowna General Hospital Foundation aspires to be a leader in the facilitation and promotion of quality health care by funding innovative and effective programs through the commitment of its members and donors.

We are a member-based organization. Our members elect a national Board of Directors who are responsible for setting the strategic direction of Dying With Dignity Canada. The Board has hired an Executive Director to carry out day-to-day operations and execute our strategic plan. We are funded by membership fees and donations, both of which are tax deductible. Distress Centre of Niagara provides a free anonymous confidential 24-hour telephone line that uses trained volunteers to assist callers to solve their own problems, to provide information and referrals and intervene in life-threatening situations.

Parkinson Alberta Society provides support through one-on-one and group counselling, peer counselling and educational workshops. Information is provided on health and lifestyles (including physiotherapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy) through support groups, newsletters, a resource library and an informative web site.
