Mavi Kalem was formed at the aftermath of the 1999 earthquake, and founded in 2000, to respond the needs of the earthquake affected and migrated communities in particular of the disadvantageous groups of women and children in health and education. Since then, it has been implementing projects mainly assisting women and children since its establishment. Projects involving the empowerment, skill development, health services and information sharing have been implemented throughout 2000-2002 in Düzce area, mainly assisting women and children after the earthquake. Since 2002, Mavi Kalem has been implementing projects and activities concerning; educational support, awareness raising on health standards, awareness raising on domestic violence, psychological support, consultancy on health and legal issues for both local and migrated women and children in Fener/ Balat district in Fatih, Istanbul, addressing the needs of children, women and girls of the local community migrated from all regions of Turkey and since 2014 the Syrian children and women in Fener-Balat were included in its beneficiary group. Activities such as Turkish language courses, socialization activities with local population, help in admissions to schools and other official and administrative actions, and psychological support were provided to Syrian children and women. Mavi Kalem has worked toward the Syrian refugee influx related issues since 2011, by conducting needs assessments and gap analysis in Hatay, Gaziantep and Sanliurfa without-camp populations. Also on the national and international level; women' rights and health rights, children's rights, wide spreading of minimum standards in humanitarian aid, youth exchange programs are included in Mavi Kalem's actions. Dissemination and advocacy for humanitarian assistance standards and principles in disasters, emergencies and migration situations is one of Mavi Kalem's work areas. Since 2001 it has been part of Sphere Project, since 2009 INEE Workgroups and for 2 years now part of CHS Alliance. MAVİ KALEM has held the adaptation of Sphere handbook in Turkish successfully and been in cooperation with Ministry of Health, TRC, municipality health departments for its wide spreading, and implementing training programs. Similarly INEE and CHS basic humanitarian aid principal books have been adapted to Turkish and disseminated at national level by Mavi Kalem. It is one of the founding members of SITAP (Civil Society Disaster Platform, national). Mavi Kalem has organized Women in Disasters and Emergencies Workshop hosting women experts, academics, experienced NGO field workers from humanitarian organizations, NGOs, and women right based organizations in 2016. Gender specific issues, needs, and rights in emergency settings were discussed; field experiences and suggestions for improvement were exchanged toward strengthening and mainstreaming the gender perspective in disaster and emergency response. Mavi Kalem, has also delivered its services and expertise to disaster and emergency or poverty affected locations other than its primary implementation area through partnership with other local organizations, in other districts of Istanbul and other provinces such as during the Van earthquake response. Overall organizational strength and capacity lies within the Mavi Kalem's 17 years of implementation experience with focus on public health and education, disaster, emergency and migration specialization, advocacy of women and girls health rights, mainstreaming gender equality perspective in its implementation, developing and designing projects and programs based on the needs and participation and feedback mechanisms of its beneficiaries, volunteers, and supporters, measuring quality and monitoring and evaluation of impact in action rather than quantity focus, integrity and commitment of Mavi Kalem, at all levels to organization's policies in regards to work ethics, preceding women and girls, and children protection, non-discriminatory approach, preservation of confidentiality and respect for dignity, transparency and accountability, anti-fraud and corruption. Since its foundation Mavi Kalem has been working with international donors and experienced in project budget management, and reporting accordingly. Mavi Kalem's administrative and financial system and its management are executed as per Turkey's finance law and associations' law and regulations. Grant agreements, contracts and partnership agreements are also reflected in its implementation and management. Annually Mavi Kalem goes through financial and administrative auditing of relevant governmental body and also independent financial auditing. Mavi Kalem prioritizes gender equality in the implementation and decision making steps of projects and decides and acts with accountability, transparency, participation and approaches differences equal as principal. Mavi Kalem, being a non-profit civil society organization for which 97% of employees are women, applies positive discrimination to women when recruiting, selecting and determining beneficiaries and target groups to promote gender equality. To eliminate social discrimination during stages of project content, project design and project implementation, working with women is prioritized in determination of the project team and selection of financial experts procured from the affiliated participant organization. In addition to being sensitive to gender discrimination in works and studies, Mavi Kalem acts responsibly and is in favor of vulnerable groups avoiding discirimination based on ethnicity, political views, religious beliefs, sexual identity and race in terms of target groups, beneficiaries and employees. Taghyeer Organization/ We Love Reading Program is an innovative model that provides a practical, cost efficient, sustainable, grassroots approach empowering communities from low and mid income communities around the world to create changemakers through reading. WLR supports the activism of local volunteers to increase reading levels among children 2-10 by focusing on the readaloud experience to instill the love of reading for pleasure among children to become lifelong learners. We aim to create system change. We create changemakers by recruiting and training adults and youth from local communities to provide read-aloud sessions for local children in safe, public spaces. Each year, WLR volunteers read to tens of thousands of children in public parks, community centers, mosques and other faith-based settings, nurseries, refugee camps, and other locales. We serve diverse populations and communities irrespective of gender, religion, social status, disability, literacy level, educational experience, etc. The training is either implemented in face-to-face settings or via our online platform to allow reaching wider audience of people wanting to volunteer and become reading ambassadors.

The Taiwan Love and Hope International Charity exists to reach out and provide charitable services, principally to disadvantagedchildren and youth, and including their family, if necessary.The aim is to provide educational, financial assistance, and housing, hoping that such gestures of love can empower and give hope to the disadvantaged.

LOSEV Foundation for Children with Leukemia is a non-governmental (NGO) and a not-for-profit public benefit organization that has been providing support for more than 30.000 children with leukemia and cancer, adult cancer patients and their families since 1998. As 87% of the families of the children diagnosed with leukemia who are registered to LOSEV are from a low-income background and 11% have no income at all, LOSEV provides complementary treatment at LOSANTE Children and Adult's Hospital. Intensive treatment, accommodation and meals are completely free of charge for the patients and the accompanying mother. LOSANTE now provides service not only for children with leukemia but also to adult cancer patients. Moreover, it is also a multidisciplinary hospital; providing medical services in other disciplines from cardiology to psychiatry. Each year 200.000 people receive cancer diagnosis and every year a city full of people perish. Unfortunately, treatment centers are inadequate in the face of this increase and treatment success chance decrease. Due to this reason, we constructed Europe's most modern and well-equipped oncology city which will serve in all branches from oncology to eye diseases, from cardiology to radiation all units. Education Centers for Children with Leukemia help children compensate for missing school terms due to intensive treatment. LOSEV Elementary School has opened its doors in 2008, where 150 students receive education under the curriculum of the Ministry of National Education. Accommodation and employment for families, who have to migrate to reach treatment facilities is a vital problem. LOSEV has established a Village for Children with Leukemia to ease this pressure. LOSEV gives priority to provide social and permanent services in all its activities; thus, has been carrying out Vocational Training Courses for leukemia and cancer survivors as well as the mothers of children with leukemia. The aim of this project is to provide those compulsory migrant mothers with employment opportunities through, an eligibility certificate at craftsmanship as well as providing them with gateway and relaxation opportunity. LOSEV has become an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social council of the United Nations in the year 2007. Having granted vital equipment three times to LOSANTE, The United Nations Women Guild has been a generous supporter of LOSEV and its activities. With the purpose to raise awareness of the increasing cases along with the prevention of cancer, another event pioneered by LOSEV for the first time throughout the world is The International Week for Children with Leukemia. The Week is being celebrated for the past 19 years on the last week of May. The treatment of leukemia and cancer can only turn into success with the support of individuals, institutions and corporate partners from all around the world. We, as LOSEV, believe that by sharing ideas, experiences and information, we can improve the lives of our children and provide then a healthy and therefore, better future.

UMUDU CANLANDIRMA DERNEGI - Hope Revival Organization (HRO) is a humanitarian, advocacy, and non-profit organization dedicated to working with communities afflicted by conflict and crisis in order to overcome experiencing difficulty coping. HRO is a service-focused organization with a variety of objectives and the intent of promoting development as well as service projects that address everyday needs. As such, HRO's main mission is to promote psychosocial wellbeing through the provision of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services, capacity building and awareness raising of the target communities themselves. Our target group, as mandated in our mission, is "populations or people affected by crisis". Displaced people often face threats to their safety and dignity, including violence, coercion, exploitation and deprivation, as well as restrictions on their access to services, assistance, livelihoods and other basic rights. For HRO, populations and people affected by displacement include: IDPs, refugees, returnees, people at risk of displacement and people who are unable to flee (whether they are being obstructed or because they lack the means or ability to do so). Given the important role that host communities have in supporting displaced people and in contributing to durable solutions, we also include members of host communities in our programmes. This aligns with our conflict-sensitive approach and our efforts to understand and mitigate the potential negative effects of our interventions and programmes on communities, markets and the environment. HRO primarily works in situations of armed conflict, providing assistance, protection and concrete solutions. In order to enhance integration among refugees and host community members, HRO also targets those host communities to ensure a peaceful coexistence and that needs of both are met and addressed. Wherever we are present, we try to avail our long experience in war settings that are affected by protracted crisis and prioritize targeting the most vulnerable groups especially those with limited mobility or living in remote areas or even those affected by natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, etc. Therefore, HRO aims to enhance their access to evidence-based, high quality, and culturally sensitive MHPSS services and to build sustainable local capacities and provide comprehensive, integrated, and community-based services that promote their resilience and overall wellbeing. HRO focuses on community care by creating safe environments that foster the effective participation of women, youth, and people with disabilities in economic, social and civil activities in order to limit marginalization, mitigate violence, empower them, and raise their awareness about their rights, which in turn helps in eliminating poverty and improving the quality of life and community resilience. HRO provides its services to all community categories (women, men, girls, and boys) regardless of their religion, race, ethnicity, or gender, using community-based, context-related, and culturally appropriate approaches within the following sectors: 1. MHPSS (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support) Programme aims to create safe spaces where people can be more capable of managing events that threaten their well-being, to prevent or reduce their negative effects on their everyday lives. Through this programme, HRO works on making MHPSS services easily accessible and meeting the special needs of those people whose lives are burdened by a history of trauma and stress, while also responding to the social, economic, and political impacts of these problems. HRO MHPSS Programme includes: a) mental health integration into health facilities (providing a primary mental health care inside hospitals and MHPSS centers as part of general health care which is more accessible, cost-effective and less stigmatizing); b) Community Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (community-based MHPSS case management approach that meets multiple needs helps people set goals, and links them with different available services and support); c) MHPSS interventions (including clinical supervision, MHPSS focused non-specialized, MHPSS specialized interventions, psychological first aid (PFA), psychosocial support activities, capacity development, advocacy, child and youth psychosocial programmes, and early childhood development). 2. Protection (violence prevention and response) and advocacy programme aims to promote gender equality, affirm and advocate for human rights, provide support to people who have experienced violence, especially the most vulnerable groups (females, children, elderly and persons with disabilities) and raise public awareness about their rights to mitigate and prevent discrimination against them, in addition to providing legal assistance and mine action services. HRO Protection Programme includes: a) Gender-based Violence Programme (preventing and responding to GBV, meeting the needs of GBV survivors, highlighting their exposure to GBV, restoring their dignity while ensuring safe access to these services, in addition to empowering them and supporting their economic independence); b) Child Protection (working with families, caregivers, and communities to promote positive social norms and behaviors to help to prevent violence against children, focusing on 3 main areas: Response, Prevention and Integrated Child Protection in Education); c) Mine Action (through risk education, educational activities aimed at reducing the risk of injuries from mines and unexploded ordnance and Victims' assistance with psychosocial support activities, social inclusion, and referral to other services); d) General Protection and Rule of Law (it helps to restore the dignity of individuals by providing quality protection services for the most vulnerable groups in highly affected areas through: protection monitoring, and legal assistance); e) Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse - PSEA (it aims to preventing and responding to SEA committed by humanitarian workers against affected populations through community-based prevention activities and setting out strategies for creating and maintaining a safe and respectful environment); 3. Peace-building (transitional development) aims to increase people's ability to resolve conflict peacefully and reconstruct communication lines between conflicting parties to create more resilient communities through promoting peacebuilding, non-violent communication, negotiation skills, problem solving, positive coping mechanisms, coexistence, community dialogue, de-escalation mechanisms, common ground methodologies, mediation and intervening in disputes, etc.. We provide assistance in emergencies where needs are often the most acute, and where community resilience may be at its most fragile. We frequently work in complex, protracted crises characterized by long-term or cyclical displacement as well as recurring violence and shocks. Our programme and advocacy work contributes to and promotes durable solutions for displacement. Through this spectrum of work, we seek to bridge the gap between humanitarian and development interventions. The contexts where we work are generally highly volatile, and we often see consecutive waves of displacement, therefore, our programme responses should be developed in a way that ensures greater engagement of beneficiaries, community and local civil authorities, in addition to reinforcing community preparedness and resilience. Hope Revival Organization is also planning to create the "NAFSY" Application (My psychology application), a digital platform that provides psycho-social support services using web-based technologies. Through this innovative application, e-learning and e-counseling services are delivered through the e-learning channel (courses, articles, self-placed psycho-analytical quizzes, games, and blogs), which aims to combat the stigma and enhance the efficiency of direct services sector, constituted by an e-counseling channel, which will ensure the access to mental health counseling services by Syrian refugees living in Turkiye, while ensuring adequate and cost-efficiency services, data confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity. By promoting access to mental health services for refugees via mobile application, HRO aims to address the mental health disorders at refugees and displaced populations and overcome the following barriers they might encounter: language barriers (the high-quality of services is ensured through mental health professionals who are Arabic speakers), stigma and social misconceptions about the mental disorders (addressed through the e-learning portal), and financial barriers (combatted through the cost-effectiveness of the mobile application). As such, the innovative aspects of this prototyped application are as follows: the interlink between the e-learning and e-counseling services; the decent work opportunities provided to mental health professionals coming from the diaspora; the self-sustainability and scalability (achieved through a well-settled fundraising strategy) and the cost-efficiency of the mobile application itself.
