Regina Transition House Inc.

Regina Transition Women’s Society operates Regina Transition House. Services provided: Safe temporary housing in a safe facility. A holistic response including counselling support, information and education, options and alternatives, referral and advocacy. Around the clock service to residents and to the community via telephone. Children's programming focuses on risk assessment, information, parenting support and safety planning. Outreach programming focuses on assisting women to become independent and achieving a life without violence. It is available to all women departing shelter. Cultural programming is offered with regular sharing circles and visits from a local Elder. Public education and awareness on the issue of interpersonal violence is provided within the community.

Kamloops Food Bank Society

Kamloops FoodBank & Outreach Society is an organziation that provides food to the hungry in the Kamloops area. In addition to providing food hampers for those in need, our FoodShare program collects perishable food such as produce, milk and meat from local food stores and distributes the food collected to other agencies in Kamloops, such as the New Life Mission, the Salvation Army, and many others.

Operating since 1981, we serve . . . the working poor, the unemployed and the homeless. Thousands come to us each year for a helping hand. It is only through the generosity of the community that we are able to give that helping hand. Our programs include . . . THE HAVEN - emergency shelter for youth ages 16-21 . . . WRA WILDLIFE RESCUE ASSOCIATION OF BRITISH COLUMBIA

WRA, formed in 1979, rehabilitates injured and orphaned urban wildlife for release back to the wild. Its specialty is native birds but treats small mammals also. WRA speaks to children and adult groups about urban wildlife issues and ways to prevent common injuries. An average of 3,000 patients are admitted to its facility in Burnaby, BC every year.

We operate throughout Northumberland County from six local offices.Our staff and over 1000 volunteers provide a variety of important support services to seniors and adults with disabilities, allowing them to remain independent within their own homes and communities. Our core programs offered include:Meals On Wheels, Transportation, Caregiver Support, Community Diner's, Friendly Visiting, Telephone Security Checks and Home Help/Home Maintenance.Clients can access our services directly or be referred through family, friends or other community agencies. Fees may apply to some of our programs to cover expenses. All hospice services are free. Services include,one to one palliative support, one to one grief support,facilitated support groups, caregiver support, respite, anticipatory grief support, telephone support,information and referral,access to library resources, child and teen support,community education, memorial services,and wellness programs.

ABC Head Start Society

ABC Head Start provides a proven program that helps preschool children develop the critical thinking, language, social/emotional and physical skills they need to be ready for school and achieve success in learning and life. Our early learning program integrates skills development with health nutrition and other community supports for children. We provide wrap around services for vulnerable families to help them support their child’s learning and development, promote a healthy family and address issues such as poverty, employment, settlement, English as a second language, mental health, isolation, family violence, and many more complex issues. ABC Head Start works with a wide range of community partners to meet the needs of children and families.
