Our Mission

ARTICLE 19 Mexico and Central America is an independent and nonpartisan organization that promotes and defends the progressive advancement of the rights of freedom of expression and access to information for all people, in accordance with the highest international standards of human rights, thus contributing to the strengthening of democracy.

To fulfill its mission, ARTICLE 19 Mexico and Central America has as its main task:

The defense of the right to disseminate information and opinions in all media, the investigation of threats and trends, the documentation of violations of the rights to freedom of expression, the accompaniment of people whose rights have been violated; and the participation in the design of public policies on these themes.

In this sense, ARTICLE 19 Mexico and Central America visualizes a region where all people can express themselves in an environment of freedom, security and equality, and exercise their right to access information; facilitating the incorporation of society in informed decision-making about themselves and their environment, for the full realization of other individual rights.
